New FCC Youth Minister Ordained
On February 24 Chris Downing was ordained at FCC's youth Minister. He is currently finishing his degree at Cincinnati Bible College. Chris and his wife Tonja reside in Xenia. Tonja teaches at for the Cedarcliff School District.
Elder and Deacon Ordination
On February 3 First Church conducted an ordination service for those deacons and elders who were affirmedat our annual congregational meeting for their first term. Congratulations Deacons; Steve Johnson, Scott Owsley and Brian Panter and Elder Jim Fellows.
Patriotic Service Veteran Tribute
First Church of Christ (FCC) honored veterans and active members of the military during the morning worship service on July 1, 2012. As "Songs of the Armed Forces" were sung by the Praise Choir, members of the separate branches of service were invited to come to the front of the family worship center where they were honored with an extended standing ovation by the congregation. The congregation held a luncheon following the service to honor the service members and to welcome their new senior minister, Andy Spencer, who preached his first sermon at FCC.
Church Beautification Day
Recently a group of FCC members gathered to tackle a few outdoor and indoor projects that would enhance the appearance of our faciliites. Despite some very warm temperatures, several projects were completed. Thank you to the following for coming out in the heat and serving:
Lou Turner, Bob Beverly and Steve Beverly for taking care of clutter around the buildings at the back of the property. To David Allison for changing stained ceiling tiles inside and tidying up areas outside. To Randy Tebbing for painting the hand rail at the back step. Diane Adkins and Toni Tebbing for pulling weeks and trimming the children's playground area. Dennis and Marsha Temple for pulling weeds at the fire pit. Cathy Grooms, Pam Mongin and Megan Murry for trimming trees and shrubs and pulling weeds in the front rock islands on each side of the front doors. Kent Manor for repairing walls in preparation to paint a classroom at the front of the FLWC.

Butler Springs Workday Volunteers from FCC
Every year, for the past several years, a contingent of volunteers from First Church of Christ travels to Butler Springs Christian Camp for a work day. Armed with tools, talents and teamwork, this group tackles a list of needs that help ready the camp to receive their summer campers. Everyone is welcome to join this group who typically leave on Friday evening, spend the night and get in a full day of work on Saturday. The project list ranges from: cutting fire wood, building projects, landscaping and gardening, painting, organizing, general cleaning, the list can go on and on.
